‘From Dusk Till Dawn’ TV series trailer: blood, death and misery
The Gecko Brothers are back. So promises the first full-length trailer for the upcoming TV series “From Dusk Till Dawn,” based on the 1996 cult horror flick directed by Robert Rodriguez, penned by Quentin Tarantino and starring Tarantino and George Clooney.
The 10-episode series, which will air on Rodriguez’s new English-language El Rey Network aimed at Latino audiences, revisits the saga of bank robber Seth Gecko (played by Clooney in the film and D.J. Cotrona in the series) and his unpredictable brother, Richie (Zane Holtz, taking over for Tarantino), who hijack a family RV en route to Mexico while evading a pair of Texas Rangers (Don Johnson and Jesse Garcia).
In the trailer, Garcia ominously warns that the Geckos “deal in blood, death and misery, so that’s what they’re going to get,” and the spot provides glimpses of all three, with gunfire, blood spatters, hostage taking and a few teases of the supernatural horror that underscored the original film.
Rodriguez directed the first episode, which airs March 11, and the second and fourth episodes.
Sharp-eyed Tarantino fans will appreciate the series’ inclusion of a Big Kahuna Burger, the Hawaiian-themed fast-food joint that appears in the original film as well as “Reservoir Dogs,” “Pulp Fiction,” “Four Rooms” and “Death Proof.”
