Kate Upton seems to slam ex-boyfriend with Notre Dame BCS tweet

You didn’t think Kate Upton was going to let Katherine Webb get all the attention Monday night, did you?

Webb, a former Miss Alabama USA, stole the hearts of men across America simply by sitting in the stands and cheering as her boyfriend, Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron, helped the Crimson Tide rout Notre Dame, 42-14, in the BCS championship game.

After reportedly having a mere 2,000 Twitter followers going into the game, Webb’s following has exploded to nearly 138,000 and counting Tuesday morning. Some of those people are likely to be disappointed, though, when they see her only postgame tweet thus far: “So extremely blessed... @10AJMcCarron. Congrats to Alabama and making history! #BCSChamps.”

Really, Katherine? You’re the star quarterback’s girlfriend, the eyes of the nation are on you and you can’t manage to muster a little bit of trash talk? After all, Fighting Irish bashing has become a favorite pastime of seemingly every non-Notre Dame graduate with a Twitter account.

That’s where Upton, the 2012 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue cover girl, comes in. She’s gotten her share of Internet attention the last couple of years and has been romantically linked to more than one athlete. Oh, and she has more than 660,010 Twitter followers (keep trying, Katherine).

Anyway, here’s Upton’s take on the Irish’s embarrassing loss: “It’s okay Notre Dame this happened to the Jets every week.”

See what she did there? Not only did she manage to slam two teams at once, Upton also got in a dig at an alleged former beau, New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez.

Now that’s how it’s done.
