Joe Jonas makes his own video in response to fan’s party invite
Joe Jonas turned the tables on a fan Friday, replying to her date-invite video with a video of his own, and then surprising her with the proposition during a visit to the “Today” show plaza Thursday.
Shaina Kohli, a senior at Pepperdine University, posted a video April 2 inviting the pop star to her sorority’s formal dance Saturday, drafting friends to participate in the video, integrating the “Harlem Shake” meme and working social media with the hash tag #justgowithher.
Turns out that Jonas, who has a girlfriend, is busy this weekend.
Still, he crafted a reply that went up Friday showing him in a “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby”-esque, NASCAR-style outfit, relaxing to the smooth saxophone tones of “Careless Whisper” and suggesting that she accompany him to the July 10 concert in Chicago that opens the Jonas Brothers’ tour.
Kohli didn’t know about the reply until the “Today” crew screened it for her Thursday morning, leaving her speechless except for the words, “That’s awesome!”
It then got more awesome.
Turns out, Jonas was in the crowd too, and propositioned her face to face -- once he doffed the disguise face he’d adopted.
“She made this amazing video and we watched it online,” Jonas said, “but I wanted to see if you wanted to go with me, we’ll flip it a little bit, you go with me to the opening night of the concert on July 10.”
“I would love to,” Kohli replied.
Turning to Matt Lauer, she understated with mock seriousness, “I guess that’ll do.”
See the “Today” bit and Kohli’s video below, and look up top for Jonas’ smooth reply.
