Kate Hudson, Matthew Bellamy ‘will get married,’ but no plans yet

Kate Hudson said she and boyfriend Matthew Bellamy of Muse will get married, but there doesn’t seem to be a rush yet.

Hudson, 33, was interviewed by Elle UK ahead of her latest thriller “The Reluctant Fundamentalist,” out in limited release April 26. She’s doing her promotional rounds, too, covering Glamour magazine’s April issue topless, speaking candidly about her departure from the romantic comedy genre and her stint as Lea Michele’s sassy dance instructor on “Glee.”

In Elle UK’s May cover story, she talks more about motherhood and relationships, drawing on her own experiences and those she’s had with her own famous mom, Goldie Hawn.

Hudson and Bellamy met at the Coachella festival in 2010 and started off with a very traditional relationship.

“It was all very old-fashioned and proper, and we went on lovely dates,” the actress told Elle UK (via People). “And two months later I was pregnant … Well, yes [I was shocked], but I also thought, ‘This is going to be interesting.’”

She was already a parent -- mother to Ryder Russell, 9, her son with her ex-husband, rocker Chris Robinson. She later gave birth to Bingham Hawn in July 2011. Hudson said it’s been “three wonderful years” since she and Bellamy hit it off, crediting her fiance’s strength with getting them to the place they are now.

“I knew it would take a strong man to deal with it. You know that with a relationship things can go either way when you have a child,” she said. “When you get pregnant everything changes: you, your body. Everything becomes a big decision. But he was there and that was that.”

The American sweetheart is daughter to Goldie Hawn and her ex-husband Bill Hudson, but was raised with Hawn’s longtime partner Kurt Russell. Hawn and Russell never actually got hitched, but Hudson speaks admirably of their relationship.

“When I was a kid, my brothers and sisters and I wanted my parents to get married. We ended up with something far more powerful,” she said. “We were all together at home, Dad gave Mum a ring and said some beautiful words. It was their own version of the ceremony and I remember it so well. It was like it was about us. The family was the glue.”

As for the rom-com fixture’s own marriage plans, she said they’re in the cards.

“We will get married. I do think it’s important, but we have no plans,” she added. “[Ryder] wants a party. For me it’s not the legal part that is important, it’s what it means to the family.”

The couple have been engaged for almost two years now.

Hudson, a spokeswoman for clothing line Ann Taylor Loft, also sits on an advisory council that mentors young girls. Speaking at the ANNpower Leadership Forum in Washington on Tuesday, she said that stepping out of her parents’ acting shadow was “discouraging and daunting,” according to the Associated Press.

“Take a chance on your own talent and your ambition because if you don’t do that, there’s no one else who will,” she told those in attendance.

Though Hudson appears to have taken her own advice, she said she still follows her mother’s example.

“When I told her I wanted to go into acting, she just said, ‘OK, if this is what you want to do then you’ve got to start thinking straight,’ ” Hudson said, according to the UK’s Standard. “I have been able to deal with the pressures of Hollywood thanks to those early lessons from my mom.”
