‘The X-Files’: Believe it
With nearly three long months remaining before “The X-Files” debuts, Fox continues to tease out information about its upcoming continuation of the popular show.
The series features Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) together again on the small screen for the first time since the conclusion of the original series 13 years ago, though the two teamed up for the second “X-Files” film, “The X-Files: I Want to Believe” in 2008.
The original series premiered in September 1993 and ran for nine seasons and more than 200 episodes. In it, Mulder and Scully investigated unsolved FBI cases that featured unexplained phenomena, with Scully acting as the skeptic to Mulder’s true believer.
To stoke the flames of fan anticipation, Fox has released a new promo video for the series, as well as new key art, featuring what appears to be an alien X-ray from Roswell, N.M., along with the tagline “I still want to believe,” a modification of the series’ original catchphrase.
The first of six new episodes of “The X-Files” is scheduled to air on Sunday, Jan. 24, after the conclusion of the NFC Championship game. After its special Sunday premiere, the show will settle in its regular timeslot of 8 p.m. Monday nights on Fox.
