‘Supergirl’ will join ‘Arrow’ and ‘Flash’ on the CW

Looks as though the CW superhero family just got a little bit bigger. "Supergirl," which last month ended its first season, will be leaving CBS to join her DC Comics family at the CW. 

Just announced via official DC Comics Twitter account, this shift makes a lot of sense because the spandex-heavy network has long been home to the fresh and bright world of DC Comics.

Hopefully this opens the "Supergirl" cast up for even more crossovers with the rest of the DC Comics universe in Season 2. The very successful "Flash" and "Supergirl" exchange landed Barry Allen in National City, but he swiftly left after one episode, leaving speed lines and a whole lot of chemistry in his wake. The possibilities are endless: How would Supergirl fare in Starling City? Sure, she would have to jump worlds to get back into the mix, but that's a parallel universe jump away. 

In other comic book TV news, the CW has also picked up the "Archie" comics-inspired, one-hour, live-action drama "Riverdale." That's right -- you're going to get one full hour of real-life Jughead.

According to the press release, "Riverdale" will air as early as this fall. And the premise is a doozy. If you were looking for homecoming dances and kissing contests, good luck. There's something "dark" in this "Riverdale." The premise revealed to the press explained that the series would be "a bold, subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica, and their friends, exploring small-town life and the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome facade."

What does that mean? We have no idea; however, the "Archie" comics themselves have recently taken a step toward the bizarre and dangerous with alternate timelines and darker plot threads. So anything is possible. However, this does not mean the series will be abandoning the staple love triangle among Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper and Veronica Lodge, but with a "subversive" touch.
