Is this the brand-new remodeled ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ AT-AT?

A new international “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” teaser is out and with it comes a new look at the First Order. And possibly a brand new AT-AT.

Of course, with the rest of the teaser comprising of footage from previously released trailers (and with director J.J. Abrams being mum on a lot of the details), fans are combing over the new image released by Lucasfilm that was featured in the international spot (which seems to be a new angle of the scene in this previously released image).

The teaser, which was shared by the Star Wars Korea YouTube channel, opens with a shot that gives the audience a peek of the full might of the villanous group, including what seems to be a new version of AT-ATs in the distance beyond the TIE fighters.

A close-up on these new vehicles reveals their look to be sort of a cross between the AT-AT and AT-TE walkers, with the AT-AT’s intimidating size paired with the what appears to be more prevalent projectile cannons attached to the head. But can they withstand a snowspeeder trailing a wire?

For the Record

Aug. 11, 10:10 a.m.: An earlier version of this post mentioned an X-wing trailing a wire to bring down an AT-AT, but of course the AT-ATs on Hoth were brought down by modified T-47 airspeeders called snowspeeders.

Most notable, however, is the new walker’s apparent absence of a neck, which was an AT-AT’s most vulnerable point. It looks like the First Order means business.

While the exact members on the staging platform are difficult to distinguish, Capt. Phasma’s (Gwendoline Christie) signature chrome helmet is hard to miss. Could the figure at center stage be Gen. Hux (Domhnall Gleeson) or Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis)?

Fans will have to wait to find out.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” will hit theaters Dec. 18.
