‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ trailer brings back Darth Vader
Guess who’s back? Back again? Vader’s back, tell a friend. The new trailer for “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” brought everyone’s favorite big bad villain back.
After multiple suspenseful teaser trailers, fans have been eager for a more narrative hint at the new Disney and Lucas film’s plot and characters. Directed by Gareth Edwards, “Rogue One” takes place between “Revenge of the Sith” and “Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope,” but it is not directly affiliated with the episodic “Star Wars” story lines (so that means there’s no character Rey and or Finn moments, they haven’t been born yet).
The “Rogue One” cast includes lead actress Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed and Forest Whitaker.
Last month the cast and crew shared new character details and never-before-seen images at a three-day Star Wars Celebration in London. Earlier this summer it was announced that Darth Vader would make his return to the Star Wars universe, and the new trailer has given fans a brief but crucial look at Vader’s return. And get a hold of what he’s looking at: Death Star plans.
Plans that just so happen to be the crux of the whole “Rogue One” story. Jones (playing Jyn Erso) is tasked with stealing the Death Star schematics with her gang of rebels.
“Rogue One” will hit theaters Dec. 16.
