Looks like Matt Murdock is going to have some serious crime-fighting competition in the second season of "Daredevil's" Netflix series, because Marvel just cast an intense Punisher.

Marvel revealed, via online announcement, that Jon Bernthal (who played the lunatic character Shane on "The Walking Dead") will be "Daredevil's" new Punisher. In the official announcement, Marvel is already hinting at the body count that will no doubt follow this ultra-violent comic book character, stating, "Bernthal will portray The Punisher, one of Marvel's most popular characters. He is the vigilante who aims to clean up New York City's Hell's Kitchen by any means necessary, no matter how lethal the results."

Sounds like the antihero will be pushing Murdock's no-killing policy to the limit. Excellent.

Quotes from Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s head of television, remark on Bernthal's legendary "intensity." Pair these quotes about the future Frank Castle (the Punisher's alter ego in the comic world) with the brand new, bullet-riddled logo the "Daredevil" series just released, and it's safe to say that the second season of "Daredevil" is already promising a whole heap of violence.
