Get a taste of Disney’s live-action ‘Beauty and the Beast’ in a Luke Evans vs. Hugh Jackman Gaston-off
My, what a guy, that Gaston.
During an appearance on the British “The Jonathan Ross Show,” Luke Evans and Hugh Jackman were pitted against each other in a grand contest to determine which one of them was the best embodiment of the intimidating specimen that is Gaston, the narcissistic bundle of muscles who serves as the main antagonist in “Beauty and the Beast.”
Evans of course will play Gaston in Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of the film, while Jackman played the character in one of his earliest roles onstage in the Australian production of the musical.

The contest took the form of a sing-off, with the actors performing a rendition of Gaston’s titular song.
While Evans seemed a little hesitant at Ross’ suggestion at first, once the song got started he jumped right into character (and needed much less help from the lyrics sheet than Jackman). Bonus: Jackman’s “Eddie the Eagle” costar Taron Egerton made a brilliant Le Fou.
Directed by Bill Condon, the live-action “Beauty and the Beast” will star Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as Beast. In addition to Evans, the film will also feature Ewan McGregor, Emma Thompson, Ian McKellan and Kevin Kline.
