Vanessa Lachey says she gained 65 pounds when she was pregnant with her first child and is explaining why she chose to change her last name from Minnillo.

The wife of 98 Degrees frontman Nick Lachey made the admission on HuffPost Live on Thursday as she was promoting her Seth MacFarlane-produced Fox series “Dads” with Seth Green and Giovanni Ribisi as well as a Proctor & Gamble campaign.

The Lacheys welcomed their first child, Camden, in September and she’s opening up about what it’s like to be a wife and a mom and juggling all her other commitments, saying, “I feel lucky.”

“If you establish a routine for your child, then your routine could be more manageable. And then obviously a lot of times you gotta go with the flow,” the 32-year-old said of maintaining her son’s sleep habits and tending to things while her husband is on tour.

And how does she do it? Well, apparently wanting to be a mom and wife has helped her make it all work

“I wanted to be in this role, so when things don’t happen the way they should, I’m still happy ... and having a great support system.”

The Lacheys had said that “love has truly been redefined” when they welcomed their baby boy. Her husband apparently was “born to be a dad,” and she seems to be doing pretty well being a working yet uber-involved mom.

But even the HuffPost host commented on how much weight she’d lost since having her baby.

“I gained I think it was 65 pounds when I was pregnant,” she said, admitting to bingeing on six seasons of “Breaking Bad” in one trimester, “House of Cards” and cereal.

As for how she lost the weight, she didn’t really say but had a message for all moms instead. (She’s a spokesperson for P&G after all.)

“Don’t stress about losing it. It will happen when it happens. Cam’s 9 months, so it’s been a minute and we’re working and we’re traveling and it’s just about maintaining a happy, healthy lifestyle. Not obsessing about it.

“It’s not about these get-skinny-quick diets or these fads, just enjoy time being a mom. You just had this magical moment and you shouldn’t be stressing about that kind of stuff,” she said, cheerfully adding, “And Spanx are amazing!”

Lachey also said she’s open to having up to “three and four” kids and plans to ultimately raise them in Cincinnati, her husband’s hometown.

She’s also quite the traditionalist. And that’s helped her to get where she is in her relationship with Lachey, including taking his last name.

“I see myself as his wife first, then as a personality or name,” she said. “I love my family name, and being Vanessa Minnillo obviously is all I’ve ever known, but moving forward Nick and I are a unit, and you get married — that’s how I’ve always been — you get married, and you take your husband’s name and you have a family. And things have been good.”

And she has a bit of advice for people who are thinking about having kids before they can handle them:

“Don’t rush into parenthood if you’re not ready to be a parent.”

Mmmhmm.
