Even without Mark Burnett’s help, more Trump stories from ‘The Apprentice’ surface
Though reality-show producer Mark Burnett (“Survivor,” “Shark Tank”) may assert that he’s unable to release behind-the-scenes footage of his hit series “The Apprentice,” that hasn’t stopped outlets from trying to uncover whatever bits and bobbles they can of pre-presidential nominee Donald Trump.
Monday afternoon, the Huffington Post reported that Burnett used a transcript service for the series and that the outlet obtained one such document for a Season 9 episode titled “Beauty and Brains,” which included details of both aired and unaired footage.
The episode, which aired April 18, 2010, featured the celebrity teams making over two country music stars and presenting them to a panel of industry insiders.
Notable during the broadcast footage of board room judging of the episode is when the future presidential candidate harped on two specific, largely inexplicable things.
For the men’s team, whose client was Luke Bryan, Trump wondered why they didn’t get Bryan to wear a bandana, like Bret Michaels, persisting in his repeated questioning until guest judge Trace Adkins intoned, “Enough with the bandana thing.”
Bryan has done well for himself since his stint on the show, with four albums selling more than a million copies, even without the bandana.
For the women’s team, whose client was Emily West, Trump was displeased with her skin in the promotional photos.
When Adkins expressed his preference for West’s promotional packet, Trump told him, “You’re obviously not a skin man.”
Adkins replied, “I didn’t look that close.”
But Trump persisted, “You know, there are some men that don’t care about skin.”
“I didn’t look at it with a magnifying glass like you did,” Adkins responded, sounding exasperated.
“You know, I’ve learned Trace is not a skin man. Which is OK. I wish I wasn’t,” Trump stated.
Strange commentary aside, the transcript for what didn’t make it on air reportedly revealed even more of Trump’s takes on skin.
“I assume you’re gonna leave this off, don’t put this [expletive] on the show, you know. But her skin, her skin sucks, OK?” the Huffington Post reported the transcript as stating. “I mean her skin, she needs some serious [expletive] dermatology.”
According to the site, Trump went on to disavow being gay, before stating Bryan was more attractive in his photos than West.
To verify the transcript, Huffington Post reached out to Cyndi Lauper, who was task manager of the women’s team for the episode. Lauper is said to have confirmed it as accurate.
“Of all people to talk about people’s skin!” Lauper added. “What the hell is going on with his?”

Not to be outdone, “The Daily Show” posted a classic bit of footage on Monday to social media from a Season 9 episode of “The Apprentice” titled “The Weak Link.” The episode aired just four weeks after America learned that Trump was a skin man.
The clip featured Maria Kanellis, a professional wrestler, telling an unsavory story in the boardroom about chef Curtis Stone using a bathroom he wasn’t entitled to and Trump reacting poorly to the tale. Trump admonished Kanellis for her story.
“It’s disgusting. This is my boardroom. It’s not a locker room,” Trump said before summarily firing Kanellis.
It’s not a locker room.
If nothing else, “The Daily Show” find revealed that Trump, at one point, believed in consequences for inappropriate locker room talk.
