Tia Mowry isn’t pregnant and says it’s body shaming if you think she is
Tia Mowry once again shut down rumors that she is pregnant — for the record, she’s not — and said she’s actually “just happy.”
The “Sister, Sister” alum addressed the rumors in a sit-down with HuffPost Live, noting that she’d put on some extra weight because of her cooking show, “Tia Mowry at Home.”
“Guys, I am not pregnant, I am just happy. I’ve gained these extra whatever 10 [or] 15 pounds because of my cooking show. I eat my food,” the 37-year-old actress said. “I’m just enjoying life, and when I want to drop the pounds, I will, but right now I’m happy with who I am.”
Still, “The Game” alum regards the speculation as “a form of body shaming.”
“[I]t’s pretty unfortunate, because we live in a society that is so obsessed with being perfect ... Why can’t we just be us?”
Mowry, who’s recently appeared in Fox’s rookie procedural “Rosewood” and Nick at Nite’s recently canceled “Instant Mom,” addressed the issue over the summer with an Instagram photo of a pregnancy test that said “just fat,” which yielded a slew of negative comments on her page.
“FYI. For all the people that think I’m pregnant. I’m NOT just enjoying life and eating and cooking some great food! Thanks:) again I repeat I AM NOT PREGNANT!” she captioned the photo.
In the interview, the mother of one called for the negativity to stop.
“We need to be more supportive with with everything. With body images, especially with women, showing that all sizes are beautiful,” she added. “And I’m talking about in magazines, advertisement in regard to what’s sexy and what’s not sexy. We all need to be a little more supportive of each other. I think if we start there, we’ll see a difference.”
