Taylor Swift tops Maxim’s Hot 100 list for 2015

Who is this Taylor Swift person who has exploded in all her hotness in the last 24 hours?

After dropping the video for “Bad Blood” during the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night, Swift on Monday was named No. 1 on Maxim’s Hot 100 list for 2015.

That would be the Hot 100 list she didn’t even crack last year, when her BFF Candice Swanepoel took the top spot.

Of course, the sweet TSwift we’ve known and loved hasn’t exactly disappeared. “It’s really nice and such an incredible compliment” to lead the list, she told Maxim for its June/July issue, which she covers. But Sweet TSwift didn’t feel as strongly about feminism as she does now -- something she attributes to being seen previously “as a kid” and not “threatening.”

“I didn’t see myself being held back until I was a woman,” the 25-year-old told the magazine. “Or the double standards in headlines, the double standards in the way stories are told, the double standards in the way things are perceived. A man writing about his feelings from a vulnerable place is brave; a woman writing about her feelings from a vulnerable place is oversharing or whining.”

And heaven knows, Swift has had more than her share of criticism over her love life and the way she’s incorporated her experiences into her music.

“Misogyny is ingrained in people from the time they are born,” she said. “So to me, feminism is probably the most important movement that you could embrace, because it’s just basically another word for equality.”

Swift definitely gets her girl power on in the “Bad Blood” video, which features a lot of kicking butt and general badassery and includes cameos by Jessica Alba, Cindy Crawford, Cara Delevingne, Lena Dunham, Selena Gomez, Ellie Goulding, Gigi Hadid, Mariska Hargitay, Karlie Kloss, Ellen Pompeo, Serayah, Hailee Steinfeld and Zendaya.

And of course there’s the presence of Kendrick Lamar, whose “Backseat Freestyle” Swift called out last year as her “go-to” when she wants to “immediately go from feeling victimized to feeling awesome.”

Ms. “1989” is clearly feeling awesome now.
