Shia LaBeouf is out of jail, charged with multiple criminal counts

Actor Shia LaBeouf was released from jail Friday morning after being arrested Thursday night for allegedly disturbing a performance of the musical “Cabaret,” New York law enforcement officials have confirmed.

“It’s due to his violent behavior toward patrons,” said Brian Sessa, a police spokesman, told the Los Angeles Times on Thursday night.

According to a criminal complaint, LaBeouf refused to leave Studio 54 after he stood up in the middle of a theatrical performance and began yelling loudly at the actors on stage.

As he was escorted out of the theater, a police officer said, LaBeouf employed some obscenities and: “I observed the defendant scream at me in substance ... Do you know my life? ... Do you know who I am?”

The complaint also says a police officer saw the actor spit in his direction: “I observed the spit land at my feet.”

LaBeouf was arraigned Friday morning and charged with two counts of trespassing, two counts of disorderly conduct and one count of harassment in the second degree, according to a criminal complaint. The 28-year-old actor was then released and is due back in court July 24.

People who attended the performance at Studio 54 said on Twitter that he was being highly disruptive.

LaBeouf, who stars with Brad Pitt in the upcoming war drama “Fury,” has exhibited particularly unusual behavior in recent months.

In December, the “Transformers” star found himself at the center of plagiarism allegations after he made a short film that bore remarkable similarities to a graphic novella by Daniel Clowes but did not credit Clowes.

In January, the actor announced that he was retiring from public life. The next month, he showed up at a movie premiere in Berlin wearing a paper bag over his head that read, “I am not famous anymore.”
