Amid rumors she and Ozzy have split, Sharon Osbourne skips work
Amid multiple reports that she and husband Ozzy Osbourne were living separately and possibly splitting up, Sharon Osbourne skipped “The Talk” on Monday
“As you can see, Sharon is not here today,” co-host Julie Chen said after introducing guest host Leeza Gibbons. “There were many tabloid headlines this past weekend about her and Ozzy — rumors and speculation that they have split up after nearly 34 years of marriage. Sharon understandably took today off. We are sending all of our love to her and her family, and we’re asking that you do the same.”
A spokesperson for the couple told multiple outlets Monday that “[a]t this time, Ozzy is not in the marital home.” The rocker and the TV personality have been married nearly 34 years and have three adult children, two of whom — Kelly and Jack — appeared with them on the reality show “The Osbournes.”
Sharon, 63, supposedly kicked out Ozzy, 67, last week after a big flight over what she believed to be evidence that he’d been having an affair with a celebrity hairstylist, according to a weekend report in British tabloid the Sun. The stylist didn’t come to work Saturday because of a “personal emergency,” a spokesperson for her salon told the Mirror.
While some headlines screamed that Ozzy was “missing,” he was photographed Monday in Los Angeles carrying one of his dogs and wearing his wedding ring. Earlier reports had him staying at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
E! News painted a more civilized picture than the Sun’s, citing a source who said the couple had “mutually agreed” that he would move out temporarily. Ozzy also told the outlet during a Saturday evening phone call that he had been sober for more than three years; in contrast, during their high-profile separation in 2013, he admitted publicly that he’d fallen off the wagon.
“For the last year and a half I have been drinking and taking drugs,” Ozzy said on Facebook in an April 2013 post clarifying that they were not divorcing. “I was in a very dark place and was [a jerk] to the people I love most, my family. However, I am happy to say that I am now 44 days sober.”
A few days later, Sharon explained on her show, “There’s always a little seed of truth to everything that gets reported, but then it gets very distorted.” She was “devastated” but said they’d dealt with worse during the course of their marriage.
A month or so after that, they walked a red carpet together.
Reps for the couple did not respond immediately Monday to The Times’ requests for comment.
