Selma Blair was hospitalized Monday after an incident on a flight to Los Angeles International Airport from Cancun, and on Tuesday afternoon she apologized for her behavior, saying she was “filled with shame.”

“I made a big mistake yesterday. After a lovely trip with my son and his Dad, I mixed alcohol with medication, and that caused me to black out and led me to say and do things that I deeply regret,” the actress said in a statement to Vanity Fair, confirming a TMZ report about what led to her making a scene on the plane.

Officials were notified Monday of “an ill passenger arriving on a flight from Cancun, Mexico,” U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in a statement Tuesday. “The aircraft was met by CBP officers and the passenger was turned over to the Los Angeles Fire Department for transport to a local hospital.”

Privacy laws prevented the release of further details, the agency said. Los Angeles Airport Police also confirmed that a “sick individual” was taken to a hospital from an arriving flight at LAX.

TMZ sources said the 43-year-old was traveling in first class and drinking wine. Citing witnesses, the outlet said the actress suddenly started crying, saying, “He burns my private parts. He won’t let me eat or drink,” and continuing, “He beats me. He’s going to kill me.”

Blair’s 4-year-old son, Arthur Saint, whom she shares with ex-boyfriend Jason Bleick, was with his parents on the flight, the actress said in her statement. Arthur “was with his Dad asleep with his headphones on, so there is that saving grace,” she told Vanity Fair before apologizing profusely to the passengers and crew who were affected.

Blair, who recently played Kris Jenner in FX’s “American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson,” said Thursday on Instagram that she and her son were “leaving on a jet plane” with Bleick for a Father’s Day weekend.

Though Bleick and Blair separated in 2012 after two years together, they have stayed friendly.

The onetime “Anger Management” actress was photographed over the weekend on the beach at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya, where Us Weekly said the group had been staying.

Bleick showed up on Instagram late Monday morning in a photo with Arthur taken on a plane and tagged from Cancun International Airport. “On our way back from Mexico," the fashion designer said.

Bleick posted a photo of his son early Tuesday, wielding a big stick in what appears to be a park, with a caption that said, “A new day & an early morning stick hunt with dad.”

A rep for Blair couldn’t be reached immediately for comment Tuesday.
