Selena Gomez tells David Letterman she made Justin Bieber cry too
Selena Gomez made Justin Bieber cry and bonded over it with David Letterman.
Gomez stopped by “The Late Show” Monday night to promote her upcoming film “Spring Breakers,” which costars “genuinely creepy” James Franco as a rapper/drug dealer accosting spring breakers Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Heather Morris. But after the late-night host did his due diligence discussing the “cautionary tale” coming-of-age flick, he moved on to the onetime Disney star’s love life.
“Do you date? Do you go out and see -- seeing boys now?” Letterman asked Gomez, whose public breakup from the YouTube sensation has fueled the blogosphere since the holidays.

“No, not yet, no,” the 20-year-old responded.
“Now, I remember last time you were here, you were with a Justin Bieber?”
“I was with ‘a Justin Bieber?’” she responded, laughing and going on to say that she was single and giggling that she was “so good” with it.
“Good, yeah. I think you’re fine,” Letterman added with a roaring round of applause from the audience. “Now, the last time he was on, uh, he and I got into a conversation, and I -- he said something and then I said something, and then he said something and I said something, and I made him cry.”
“Well, then that makes two of us,” she said smugly, and Letterman went in for a fist bump.
Letterman was likely referring to Bieber’s June 2012 appearance when he cantankerously disapproved of the pop star’s new tattoo.

This was the first time Gomez has publicly acknowledged the breakup. She and the Biebs called it quits around New Year’s and have gone on their merry ways -- he touring and gallivanting in the UK and Paris and participating in some questionable behavior; she showing off her new attitude and promoting her music and film careers.
That remark, which Letterman approvingly referred to later in the interview, earned Gomez the win for this breakup. And that’s not even counting the little black cut-out number she wore on the show. Or what Dave calls “almost an outfit.”
