Savannah Guthrie of ‘Today’ show engaged to Mike Feldman
“Today” show host Savannah Guthrie is engaged.
The TV anchor, who replaced Ann Curry on the show last summer, is set to marry media consultant Mike Feldman, 44, a former consultant to Al Gore. She announced the news on the NBC morning show Monday.
“We’ve been together four years, so, as he said, no one will accuse us of rushing into anything,” Guthrie, 41, said on the air, adding that Feldman popped the question over the weekend.
“We adore each other,” she added. “Our families have been in-laws for years ... they were just waiting for us to catch up!”
Her new fiancé also called in during the fourth hour to weigh in on the news.
“It’s not bad being the luckiest guy in the world,” Feldman said. He’d nervously proposed, down on one knee, while he and Guthrie were vacationing on the Caribbean island of Turks and Caicos. But apparently dropping down on one knee wasn’t a clear enough indication to Savannah that he was proposing.
“It didn’t dawn on me he was actually asking,” Guthrie said on “Kathie Lee and Hoda.” Watch the video below.
“He got on one knee and I still thought we were just talking,” she added, thinking they were still discussing getting married. And then he gave her the box.
“I didn’t open it for a long time,” she said, “because I was just overcome.”
Though they didn’t catch on right away, her colleagues in Studio 1A were abuzz with excitement over her news.
“Big news from Savannah!” co-anchor Matt Lauer tweeted with a pic of Guthrie flashing her ring. Co-host Al Roker echoed the sentiment on Instagram.
“@savannahguthrie and her engagement ring. Congrats to her and fiancé Mike Feldman,” Roker wrote, posting another pic of her with the massive sparkler. He also wanted to throw her wedding on the morning show.
“The Hangover Part III” star Bradley Cooper dropped by the show to bring her a dozen roses and ask her for her phone number.
As for the wedding date, Feldman said: “As soon as possible.”
This will be the second marriage for Guthrie. She was previously married to BBC producer Mark Orchard. They divorced in 2009.
