Rachel Uchitel says future ex-husband Matt Hahn has defamed her
Rachel Uchitel didn’t want it to be this way, she said — but them’s fighting words.
Uchitel, speaking through her rep, has accused husband Matt Hahn of defaming her when he filed for divorce Monday and alleged “cruel and inhumane treatment.”
“While it remains Ms. Uchitel’s desire to resolve this matter in a private manner,” rep Howard Bragman said Wednesday, “she will if necessary, with the assistance of her attorneys and public relations counsel, vigorously defend herself against Matt Hahn’s false and defamatory claim of ‘cruel and inhumane treatment.’”
Just a day before, the woman who made headlines as Tiger Woods first mistress had issued a statement of her intent “to resolve this action amicably, quickly and quietly and not in the media.”
Alas, it takes two to tango, though Hahn had seemed ready to keep the dance low-key Tuesday.
“A divorce, for anyone, is a highly emotional pursuit and requires considered judgment,” an attorney for Hahn said in a statement obtained by E! News. “All attorneys involved are dedicated to bringing this matter to a fair and equitable resolution. Mr. Hahn loves his daughter Wyatt and only wishes the best for her. Every effort will be made to achieve those goals without protracted litigation.”
Hahn is asking for custody of his daughter as well as child and spousal support, according to TMZ, which also cited sources connected to the case as saying Uchitel wanted primary custody but no money from her future ex.
Incidentally, Uchitel was a bit lighter on her Twitter page Wednesday morning. Captioning it, “My official statement,” she linked to a photo with the following words:
“Cinderella is proof that a new pair of shoes can change your life.”
