Rachel Bilson: ‘A really good girlfriend’ to Hayden Christensen
Rachel Bilson is opening up about her relationship with her on-and-off boyfriend of six years, Hayden Christensen.
“I’m a really good girlfriend -- I always put all that first in my life,” the “Hart of Dixie” actress and May cover girl tells the mag. “I’m definitely the person who would make him his favorite dinner to come home to.”
She and Christensen met on the set of their time-traveling flick “Jumper” in 2007. They announced their engagement in February 2009 but called off the nuptials in 2010, citing the pitfalls of long-distance relationships. They’ve since gotten back together, and now she’s gushing about their relationship and seems to be ready to settle down.

“I love to cook, so we make dinner at home a lot and watch movies,” the 31-year-old said. “I definitely have family on the brain. Having kids is something I want to see in my future -- I hope.”
Bilson, 31, became one of America’s sweethearts playing Summer on the “The OC.” She dated costar Adam Brody from 2003 to 2006. Now she plays a similar character on the CW series named Dr. Zoe Hart, a New York transplant to the small town of Bluebell, Ala.
She’s made her fashion imprint on the show curated by costume designer Meredith Markwort-Pollack, giving rise to her own Worn on TV category, but Bilson is also considered a style icon in real life. The petite fashionista, who reportedly makes a whopping $150,000 to appear at fashion events, gave guest editor picks for Piperlime.com for some time and now designs a line of footwear for Shoe Mint.
And Christensen appears to to be supportive of his girlfriend’s sartorial selections.
“I’m lucky that my boyfriend is open-minded when it comes to fashion. There will be an outfit I’m convinced will be too crazy for him and he’s like ‘That’s awesome!’” she said, adding, “I hate being too pretty. I always add something that gives it a little funk. A leather jacket over a wedding dress -- I would totally do that.”
She admitted that her style draws from the past and present, putting comfort above all, but said if she could stock up her closet with one designer it would be Chanel. She also opened up about her no-brainer beauty methods.
“My best beauty secret is really, really profound. Wash you face every night before you go to bed and I don’t wash it in the morning. Perhaps that’s my secret.”
She also talks about her red carpet regrets and guilty pleasure in the issue, which hits newsstands April 9.
