It’s not that Pippa Middleton outshone her sister Kate Middleton at the 2011 royal wedding, but it’s safe to say the younger Middleton became an overnight celebrity thanks to her curve-hugging bridesmaid gown and buoyant bum.

Prince William and Catherine’s royal wedding was the talk of 2011, and the globally viewed nuptials helped launch Pippa Middleton, now 30, to international stardom after the ivory-clad maid of honor bent down to tend to the lengthy train of the duchess’ Alexander McQueen wedding gown.

“As I have found out, recognition has its upside, its downside and — you may say — its backside,” Middleton said Tuesday at the Women in Advertising and Communications dinner in London (via E! News).

Incidentally, the “Celebrate” author’s dazzling derriere became the talk of the tabloids just after the nuptials and even saw its own NSFW Facebook page launched. (Another standout fashion moment was William’s cousin Princess Beatrice’s puzzling choice in fascinators. But that’s a whole ‘nother head trip.)

The fashionista, triathlete and tennis player has taken the boom in popularity in stride and said she was glad her own McQueen gown, which pioneered several lookalikes, “fitted,” adding that “in retrospect, it fitted a little too well.”

She also has yoga and some serious undergarments to thank for the cute caboose. As it was revealed thereafter, the socialite wore underthings from Beautiful Bottoms London to achieve the look, Grazia Daily reported. A fitting brand name, indeed.

This isn’t the first time Middleton, whose real name is Philippa, has addressed her overnight celebrity.

“It is a bit startling to achieve global recognition ... before the age of 30 on account of your sister, your brother-in-law and your bottom,” she wrote back in 2012. “One day I might be able to make sense of this. In the meantime I think it’s fair to say that it has its upside and its downside.”
