Report: Philip Seymour Hoffman completes detox after heroin relapse
Philip Seymour Hoffman has left a detox center that he entered to get ahead of drug problems that are said to have been spinning out of control, according to reports.
“The Master” actor revealed to TMZ that he’d started using drugs again about a year ago, starting off with prescription pills then escalating to snorting heroin. He said the heroin use only lasted about a week, but he decided to check himself into a detox facility on the East Coast to take control of the problem.
“He recognized it and took care of it,” a source told E! News. “He’s doing well and back to work.”
Friends and family urged him to get treatment, he told the website.

The “Capote” Oscar-winner is said to have stayed at the detox facility for 10 days before checking out last Friday.
Hoffman, 45, has struggled with substance abuse in the past but was able to stay clean for 23 years before the latest relapse.
The actor, who has three children with costume designer Mimi O’Donnell, is already back at work, filming a movie in Europe, according to ET.
Hoffman will next appear in “The Hunger Games” sequel “Catching Fire” in November, in which he’ll play scheming head game-maker Plutarch Heavensbee.
A rep for Hoffman declined to comment on the report.
