Olympic torch gets palace welcome from Will, Kate and Harry
We’re carrying our own Olympic torch here at the Ministry: our burning flame for the royal-and-celebrity watch we’re kicking off on the eve of the London Games.
Energized by Friday’s opening ceremonies, world athletes will compete for gold medals while their famous admirers hole up in the glamorous bones of London Town, but make no mistake: This is royals country.
So what better way to drum up excitement than trotting out Great Britain’s star couple: William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
With the help of Will’s brother, Prince Harry, the royal set were present for the running of the torch through the capital city to the Olympic arena on Thursday, all sporting their Team GB polo shirts.
The games promise amazing bodies, deep pockets, fame and royalty through Aug. 12. So where’s the party?
SoHo House, the members-only haven with locations in West Hollywood, New York and Miami Beach, has some grand plans for one of its London locations, Shoreditch House. An opening ceremony party awaits VIPs, with famed DJ Terry Farley spinning funk, reggae and disco into the wee hours.
A high-end pop-up, the Retreat at Chiswell Street’s historic Brewery, will let daytime guests watch Olympic action on big screens, indulge in a full bar and in spa services such as mani/pedis and massage. Come evening, the space transforms into a nightclub.
Stay tuned to the Minstry for the latest star sightings from the Olympics.
