Nick Carter reveals baby’s gender on ‘Dancing with the Stars’: It’s a (Backstreet) boy
It’ll be a baby Backstreet Boy for Nick Carter -- he and his wife, Lauren Kitt, are expecting their first child.
The former boy-band heartthrob confirmed his baby news and the child’s gender on Monday while competing on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” -- and on the same night he and partner Sharna Burgess received their first perfect score in the dance competition.
Carter, 35, performed a contemporary routine set to “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Haley Reinhart, which he dedicated to his wife.
The couple spoke about their struggles to have children in the pre-dance video package, including going through a painful miscarriage. They also revealed that Kitt is now 16 weeks pregnant (putting her due date in the April arena).

Following his impressive routine, Carter not only scored the highest numbers of the night but he and Kitt opened a big box of blue balloons to unveil that their new arrival would be a boy.
“I wanted to make it the best it can be for my wife, my future child, for Sharna, just to make it something that we could always remember because it was so important and it was so special,” Carter told E! News. “It was surreal to get the 10s -- finally a perfect score! I was blown away. ... I’m so happy that this was the night that it happened.”
The singer also told People magazine he hoped that one day his “baby boy might come back and watch it and say, ‘Wow. Dad really loved Mom that much.’”
“The fact that we got those scores and it was a dedication to his mom ... all these things together made it such a special night,” he continued. “I feel like Lauren has made me a better man. And when you feel that way about someone, you want to stand on the mountaintop and scream it out.”
Pregnancy rumors have been swirling since last month, with People reporting last week that they were expecting.
Kitt, a fitness expert and actress, and Carter got engaged in 2013 and wed at the Bacara resort in Santa Barbara in 2014. Their trip down the aisle was documented in VH1’s 2014 reality series, “I Heart Nick Carter.”
