Miguel wasn’t warned against jump at Billboard Awards, rep says
Singer Miguel is insisting that producers did not warn him against jumping during his Billboard Music Awards performance, a maneuver that appears to have seriously injured an audience member.
The “Adorn” singer leaped over the audience to another part of the stage during his award show performance May 19, but he missed the landing and ended up falling into the audience, allegedly kicking a fan in the back of the head and slamming her head against the stage.
Producers recently said that they had warned him against the leap; however, the singer’s camp is refuting those statements.

On Tuesday, an attorney for Khyati Shah said that she was showing symptoms that could indicate brain damage.
“Some of the difficulties she’s experiencing are cognitive in nature and lead to suspicion of a neurological head injury,” her lawyer told TMZ.
Staff at the show responded with an ice pack rather than rushing her to the hospital, the attorney said. They are still waiting for neurological tests, so legal action is pending.
Shah was seen joining Miguel for an interview at the show and the reporter referred to Shah’s “elbow injury.”
On Wednesday, sources close to the production told TMZ that the singer had been warned against doing the jump because it was too dangerous, but he ignored the admonition.
Now his camp is saying that word of a warning isn’t true.
“The reports claiming that Miguel was warned by producers not to jump are completely false,” his rep told Us Weekly.
TMZ said that Miguel practiced the flying leap twice in rehearsals but was never advised to cut the theatrical jump out of his act. Producers are said to have asked him whether he was going to do it so that the cameras could get a good shot of it for the broadcast.
“A number of attempts were made to reach Khyati and her lawyer after the performance to see how she was doing and whether any assistance could be offered,” the singer’s rep said.
“Khyati’s well-being has been and continues to be of the utmost concern to Miguel.”
We’ll see how the rest of this plays out ...
