Lisa Ling reluctant about Kardashian sit-down with Oprah
Someone had to say it. That someone is veteran television journalist Lisa Ling, and the “it” would be an honest opinion about the two-part sit-down Oprah Winfrey had with the Kardashian clan.
“I have my issues with the Kardashians, absolutely, and I think there’s so much that’s wrong about how they are the most, sort of, revered family in the country,” Ling said.
“I get why Oprah wanted to interview them. For some reason people are interested in what they think about things. For some strange reason,” Ling added, on “Access Hollywood Live” (watch below).
Ling stopped by the show to promote her series “Our America,” which airs on OWN -- the Winfrey-led cable network that also features “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” where the reality family popped up on two episodes.
When Winfrey first announced the special, many a headline speculated that her floundering network, launched in step with her retirement from daytime television, recruited the family in a desperate ratings stunt.
In all fairness, the mogul didn’t shy from tough issues, like Kim’s new whirlwind romance with Kanye West, and allegations that family matriarch Kris Jenner exploits her children for personal gain.
Regardless of your Kardashian threshold, we certainly know where Ling stands. Nowhere near E!’s first family.
