Lindsay Lohan sounds like a different person in ‘Ellen’ interview

Dare we say it? Lindsay Lohan actually sounds put together in her latest interview with Ellen DeGeneres.

Knock on wood — maybe she’s just a good actress — but the frequently wayward Lilo sounds pretty darned grounded during a chat that will air Monday on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” Even if pole dancing is now part of her regular exercise routine.

It definitely isn’t the same type of guarded, strike-and-parry encounter she had about a year ago with David Letterman, though admittedly Letterman and DeGeneres are very different interviewers, with Ellen erring on the kinder and gentler side. Lohan definitely looks healthier now.

Promoting her OWN show “Lindsay,” the star of “The Canyons” calls the docu-series “raw,” “very honest” and unlike a reality series in that none of it was scripted. It was scary at first, she says, “because I didn’t expect it to be what it became,” with cameras constantly around as she worked to rebuild her life after moving to New York.

What she initially thought was a way to get back in work mode got “really overwhelming and strange,” she says — which of course thoroughly piques our interest in upcoming “Lindsay” episodes. Score one PR point for Lohan.

DeGeneres wants to know what’s been different about rehab and recovery this time around, given Lilo’s extensive experience in the field.

“In the past — a lot of people don’t know this, but — I was sent to rehab to avoid them trying to put me in jail, so it wasn’t necessarily something that I wanted or was ready for,” she says. “It was something that was kind of just going with the motions.”

Hate to break it to you, Linds, but we actually did know the jail thing was why you had those season tickets to rehab. Hopefully that’s water under the bridge now.

“This was the first time where I went to Shawn Holley, my lawyer, and said, ‘Look, I need some time, I have to figure something out,’” Lohan explained.

She cites the move back to New York as one key to her recovery.

“By moving to New York, I can walk on the street and be a human being. Like, I can be normal,” she says. And unlike what’s depicted in the early episodes of “Lindsay,” it seems the paparazzi aren’t constantly bothering her anymore, even during her recent two-week visit to Los Angeles.

“It’s totally different now,” she says. “It’s strange. I also don’t put myself in the same situations. There’s nothing left for me in going out to a certain place if I know what it’s going to result in. It’s just not worth it to me.”

So, is Lindsay really a changed person this time around? Let us know what you think in comments.
