Lily Tomlin and collaborator Jane Wagner marry after 42 years
Never let it be said that Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner rushed into marriage.
After 42 years together, the couple were married New Year’s Eve, Liz Smith reported Friday in the Chicago Tribune. People and others confirmed Tuesday that it was a private ceremony in Los Angeles.
“They’re very happy,” Tomlin’s rep told E! News, which said the plans have reportedly been bubbling at least since August.

“You don’t really need to get married, but marriage is awfully nice,” the “Laugh-In” stars told E! over the summer. “Everybody I know who got married, they say it really makes a difference. They feel very, very happy about it.”
The two, who have worked together for decades, met when Tomlin, now 74, was looking for a collaborator to help her develop the character of the wicked child Edith Ann, according to People.
