Lark Voorhies of ‘Saved by the Bell’ is a married woman
Lark Voorhies has married her beau of one year, Jimmy Green, and they’ve been hitched for more than a month now.
The “Saved by the Bell” alum tied the knot with the music engineer on April 30 during “a very intimate ceremony” in Las Vegas, according to her publicist, Jennifer Wolfson. (How very Zack and Kelly of them!)
“It was just the two of them and several witnesses at a chapel,” Wolfson said. “She’s happy, and they’re being very low-key about it.”
Voorhies, 41, who gained fame playing wealthy fashionista Lisa Turtle on the 1990s sitcom, was photographed with Green at the chapel wearing a floppy hat, sunglasses and a floral dress during the ceremony, according to TMZ, which first reported news of the nuptials.
Green told the site that they had two weddings back in April — a commitment ceremony on April 1, then another one at a Las Vegas chapel with a marriage license on April 30. He also told the site that they’re planning another bash for 2016.
Voorhies’ rep said the couple had only one ceremony but they have had different congratulatory events because they have a lot of friends and family.
“There may or may not be a bigger ceremony later, but there’s no talks of that yet,” Wolfson said.
Voorhies met Green at a networking event (not on Facebook) about a year ago, and the pair have worked on several musical projects together, her rep added. Voorhies, who previously has sung in the R&B and jazz genres, is planning to take her sound more into mainstream pop territory.
The actress has retreated from public life in recent years, and she raised eyebrows in February when she did not participate in Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show” reunion of the “Saved by the Bell” cast. Her former costars, Mark-Paul Goselaar, Tiffani Thiessen, Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley, reprised their roles as Bayside High’s students during Fallon’s skit, though Lisa and Screech were absent.
Wolfson said that while her client would have loved to have been part of the skit, she was unavailable “due to an intense work schedule.”
It is unclear why Dustin Diamond (Screech) did not participate, though at the time, the actor faced pending litigation in a Christmas stabbing case.
