Lady Gaga, Taylor Kinney, Vince Vaughn take icy Polar Plunge in Chicago
Lady Gaga, Taylor Kinney and Vince Vaughn were among the 4,500 crazy people in Chicago who threw themselves into the icy waters of Lake Michigan on Sunday to raise money for the local Special Olympics chapter.
“It was awesome,” singer Gaga told the Chicago Tribune. She had entered the lake on fiance Kinney’s shoulders but emerged on her own two feet. And yes, she got her hair wet.
It was 27 degrees in the Windy City on Sunday, and post-dunk pics show Gaga with icy chunks accenting her long blond locks.
While Kinney, “Chicago Fire” costar David Eigenberg and John Seda went shirtless into the water, actor Vaughn donned a Blackhawks jersey for the occasion.
The Chicago native had been pushed into the lake by a #VinnyDippin hashtag campaign on Twitter and, according to the Tribune, declared the water “fantastic” on his way out. Last year’s VIP guest was late-night host Jimmy Fallon, the Chicago Sun-Times said.
According to the National Weather Service, the water in Lake Michigan was about 33 degrees off the Chicago shoreline Sunday. In comparison, the National Oceanographic Data Center says, it’s usually about 60 degrees this time of year in the Pacific Ocean off Los Angeles.
Which of course is icy enough for most Angelenos.
