Kristen Stewart named new face of Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld
Kristen Stewart’s got the look: The actress has been named the new face of Chanel.
“The Twilight Saga” star will, according to Vogue, represent the iconic French fashion house’s 2013 Métiers d’Art Paris-Dallas collection campaign, to be shot and helmed by maestro Karl Lagerfeld.
The country-western themed pre-fall campaign is set for May 2014 release and comes on the heels of the 23-year-old’s shots for Balenciaga’s Florabotanica campaign.
Lagerfeld, 80, also debuted his latest film, “The Return,” which chronicles brand founder Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s reopening of her Paris couture house following World War II, at the brand’s Metiers d’Art show at Dallas’ Fair Park on Tuesday.

Stewart, who met Lagerfeld during a January 2012 photo shoot in Paris, has been a staple at the designer’s epic-scaled fashion shows in Paris and was among many celebrity guests to attend. The actress wore orange leather trousers with a cropped long-sleeved top from the brand’s spring-summer 2014 show, Vogue said.
The event included Vogue editor Anna Wintour, editor-at-large Andre Leon Talley and actresses Lily Collins and Dakota Fanning and Zoe Kravitz.
Blake Lively, Keira Knightley and Diane Kruger have also represented the brand, and this is only the latest of many instances in which the big labels have turned to young Hollywood for brand revival. Although, come on, it’s Chanel -- even Miley Cyrus knows that that name still has clout pinned to it.

Nicole Kidman and Brad Pitt have previously done campaigns for the brand and Scottish actress Tilda Swinton was the face of the Chanel Métiers d’Art Paris-Edinburgh collection last year, according to the New York Daily News.
“It” girl Jennifer Lawrence is currently the face of Dior, and Stewart’s ex-beau Robert Pattinson was the star of the Dior Homme fragrance campaign in September. “Harry Potter” alum Emma Watson was previously the face of Burberry.
On Wednesday, Lagerfeld received department store Neiman Marcus’ Award for Distinguished Service in the Field of Fashion -- which had been awarded to Coco Chanel in 1957 -- at the Neiman Marcus flagship store in Dallas.

The white-haired gent was given the award in 1980 for his work at Chloe and is the only person who has received it twice, according to Trib Town. The designer, photographer and director not only fronts Chanel but is also the head designer for Italian house Fendi and has his own label.
“Everything is bigger in Texas, and Karl has finally found a place that thinks and acts on the epic scale that he does,” Wintour said during the ceremony. “Nowhere is his grand vision more evident than in his legendary fashion shows.”
