Kim Kardashian bares her assets for Paper mag; Internet still intact
Kim Kardashian covers the winter issue of Paper magazine with her backside on full display. Did you see how Naya Rivera or Russell Brand reacted? Or what Chelsea Handler did? The Times’ Christy Khoshaba has the details.
Kim Kardashian, wife and mother, posted a nude-from-the-back shot of her big ol’ backside Tuesday night.
Oh yeah, there’s also a picture of her from the side in a tight black evening gown, balancing a Champagne glass on her butt.
The shots, posted on Twitter and Instagram, promote the reality-TV star’s appearance in Paper magazine (NSFW link, there) and a very confident hashtag, #BreakTheInternet.
The Internet remained functional Wednesday, despite the threat Tuesday night.
Photoshop was also still working for most users, despite Kardashian’s breasts and a large portion of her waist having gone missing from the butt-baring image.
“And they say I didn’t have a talent...try balancing a champagne glass on your ass LOL,” she tweeted.
She called it “an honor” to work with photographer Jean-Paul Goude, who re-created his “Carolina Beaumont” picture from 1976, prints of which are currently available for tens of thousands of dollars.
That original image features a naked black woman in the same pose as Kardashian’s clothed, but talent-revealing shot. Styleite noted Wednesday that Goude once told People, “Blacks are the premise of my work,” the artist said in 1979. “I have jungle fever.” (That’s the title of his 1982 book -- the Spike Lee joint came later.)
Kardashian, now a fashionista and branding opportunity rolled into one, broke into the entertainment industry as Paris Hilton’s assistant and the star of a very successful sex tape with Ray J. For a sex tape to be legally released commercially, both parties involved must give their consent.
She now stars in “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” and on social media, where she has since flooded her Instagram with a number of shots of her and her husband smooching.
