Keira Knightley marries James Righton in France, wears Chanel
Keira Knightley is officially a wife. The actress married musician James Righton in the south of France in a very low-key ceremony over the weekend.
The “Anna Karenina” star, 28, tied the knot on Saturday in Mazan, France, where she and the Klaxons keyboardist, 29, had an intimate ceremony at the Mazan Town Hall with about a dozen guests, including each of their families and the indie rocker’s bandmates. The ceremony was so casual that she and her new husband were photographed leaving the ceremony wearing sunglasses and guests are said to have worn flip-flops and jeans to the affair, the Telegraph reported.
Perhaps we should have expected the low-key nuptials from the Oscar-nominated actress. When she stopped by “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” last November, she admitted that the whole big wedding thing kind of confused her.

“The problem is, ever since [the engagement] happened, everyone keeps going, ‘So when is it going to happen, and what’s the dress like?’” she said. “I’m just not one of those girls that’s had the kind of fantasy wedding thing, so we haven’t planned anything and it’s all quite terrifying.”
The blush pink dress she wore was made by Chanel and resembled one she wore to a pre-BAFTA party from a few years ago, according to People.
Whether or not it’s a repeat, a rep for the fashion house said that the knee-length confection, her matching flats and the coordinating jacket were designed by Chanel’s creative director Karl Lagerfeld just for Knightley. And it’s all haute couture, the mag reported. The face of Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle fragrance also wore a pink floral garland on her head and an antique necklace. Righton wore a tailored dark blue suit.

The ceremony was officiated by Mazan Mayor Aime Navello and was followed by a slightly larger party at Knightley’s mother’s estate a few miles away from the city, E! News reported. They’ll reportedly have another reception when they return to Knightley’s native Britain, where they live in East London.
Navello said there were 10 people that attended the 10-minute long ceremony on Saturday in the south of France at the town hall.
“Their two witnesses were Keira’s parents,” Navello said. “The other people were all brothers, sisters and family. There were no other celebrities as part of the town hall ceremony,” he said. “It was really lovely. They were really happy. You could see it. They were laughing and sharing this moment with family. It was very emotional, but really simple. They were happy about the rings and they took pictures of them.”
Navello added that Knightley and Righton did not repeat any vows but simply said “I do.”
“It was a very moving ceremony,” an onlooker told Us Weekly. “Keira looked emotional during the whole thing. She cried when they exchanged their vows but was still smiling.”
The couple, who were introduced to each other by model Alexa Chung, took their relationship public in April 2011 and Righton later proposed in May 2012.
Knightley previously dated her “Pride and Prejudice” costar Rupert Friend for five years.
