Kat Von D’s wedding will have ‘underwater’ theme, she reveals
Kat Von D’s wedding plans are sunk — and that’s a good thing.
The tattoo artist and her electronic-musician fiance, Deadmau5 (real name Joel Zimmerman), are leaving the traditional white wedding far behind and choosing an underwater vibe instead for their nuptials.
The couple apparently both love and are drawing inspiration from the 1926 H.P. Lovecraft story “The Call of Cthulhu,” Von D told People on Monday (As best we can tell from a very quick read, it’s about a powerful ancient creature that is part man, part octopus and part dragon and lurks in an ancient city beneath the sea). She also spilled that the ceremony — to be “the furthest thing from traditional” — will happen Aug. 10 with about 200 people on the guest list.
The groom is helping design the gown, which “will have a sleek silhouette and include hints of iridescent teals, blues and deep violet ombré gradients,” the bride told the mag. Maybe the bridesmaids’ dresses will be white? We’re guessing no.
The couple got engaged in December when he popped the question over Twitter, and Kat has a new book out Tuesday, “Go Big or Go Home.” Below, we have a song suggestion for their first dance.
