Katy Perry gushes over ‘incredible, inspiring’ boyfriend John Mayer
It seems as though John Mayer and Katy Perry have little to hide about their relationship this time around.
The “Roar” pop vixen let out a tweet Monday gushing over her “incredible” and “inspiring” singer-boyfriend ahead of the Tuesday release of his latest album, “Paradise Valley.” And she continued to jockey her more than 41.2 million followers toward buying it.
“Something VERY special is happening @ midnight EST tonight on ITUNES!” she tweeted. “My incredible, inspiring boyfriend @JohnMayer will release a... Spectacular record called, PARADISE VALLEY check it out here: https://bit.ly/13giBdf my favorite track is #6!,” she said, adding. “So set your clocks once again!!! #PARADISEVALLEY”

No. 6 happens to be the singer’s lovey-dovey duet with the crooner, who has made quite the reputation for himself as a Hollywood bachelor. He’s dated Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Taylor Swift, just to name a few A-listers in this guy’s black book.
The song, “Who You Love,” is argued to be one of the best on the album. In it, Mayer sings about finally settling down and Perry gushes over what it’s like to be with him.
“Some have said his heart’s too hard to hold,” she sings, “but you should see him when he shines.”
Perry, 28, and Mayer, 35, have been dating on and off since 2012, about six months after she split from comedian Russell Brand. After months of speculation about their status, the pair officially stepped out together at an event in June.

As for the new track, Mayer calls it “an interesting bend” on proclamations of love.
“I kicked around this song about you love who you love,” Mayer told Billboard. “It’s also a confessional for myself. I started singing [the song], ‘My girl, she ain’t the one I saw coming and sometimes I don’t know which way to go and I tried to run before, but I’m not running anymore...’
“I tried to be alone and I can’t,” he added. “It’s a really fun opportunity for her to write like her answer to that. So, you get these two sides to this relationship that are brutally honest.”
Perry has also been open about their relationship in interviews with Vogue and Elle UK. In the former, she said that she was “still madly in love” with Mayer and, in the latter, she said that he initially “pulled away,” which was “a big hello” for her.
“I realized I could lose the person I loved and I had to deal with some things, issues I think a lot of women have,” she said. “You can be strong in one aspect of your life but submissive in another.”
Another song on “Paradise Valley” is “Paper Doll,” which appears to be a musical response to Swift’s barbs in her infamous break-up song to Mayer, “Dear John,” off her 2010 “Speak Now” album, according to Pop & Hiss.
“You’re like 22 girls in one,” he sings. “And none of them know what they’re running from. Was it just too far to fall for a little paper doll?”
It should be noted that “22” is the name of a song on Swift’s “Red” album in which she sings about being “happy, free, confused and lonely at the same time.”
Well, being called a paper doll is tons better than being called “sexual napalm.”
