“We are overjoyed to announce that Spurgeon has a new title in life as ‘big brother!’” the Seewalds said in a blog post. The trio announced the news with a series of family portraits that featured a chalkboard reading “Doubling the Love Feb. 2017”
The new member of the larger Duggar clan is due in February, and the couple said they are “so thankful that God is adding to our family.”
They added, “2017 is shaping up to be a wonderful year already and we know Spurgeon will do a great job in his new role. Having Spurgeon has been such a wonderful blessing and we cannot wait to see the face of this sweet new baby (or babies!).”
The “Counting On” star, 23, and Ben, 21, wed in November 2014 and welcomed Spurgeon in November 2015.
In a video accompanying their announcement, Jessa said they feel like they’re having a boy but don’t know the gender because they haven’t yet had an ultrasound.
“I won’t be able to wait till baby’s born to know the gender so we’ll probably end up finding out,” Jessa said. “But we haven’t decided yet if we’re going to share that news with everybody or keep it a secret again.”
The next chapter in their journey will be chronicled on their TLC spin-off series, “Jill and Jessa: Counting On.” The network canceled “19 Kids and Counting” in July 2015 following scandals surrounding older brother Josh Duggar.
