Jennifer Lawrence vs. Joan Rivers: ‘Fashion Police’ feud heats up
The Jennifer Lawrence-Joan Rivers feud is heating up, with the “Fashion Police” host taking the latest jab at the Oscar-winning actress.
The outspoken “Hunger Games” star’s crusade against unhealthy body image has frequently made headlines and, in November, the slightly curvy Lawrence spoke out against Rivers’ E! snark fest “Fashion Police” for perpetuating a warped ideal of body image.
“The world has a certain idea -- we see this airbrushed perfect model image,” the 23-year-old said during a Yahoo chat event. “You just have to look past it. You look how you look. And be comfortable. What are you gonna do, be hungry every single day to make other people happy? That’s just dumb.

“And there’s shows like the ‘Fashion Police’ and things like that are just showing these generations of young people to judge people based on things ... that they put values in all the things that are wrong and that it’s OK to point at people and call them ugly and call them fat and they call it ‘fun’ and ‘welcome to the real world,’” she continued. “And it’s like, that shouldn’t be the real world.
“That’s going to keep being the real world if you keep it that way. It’s not until we stop treating each other like that and just stop calling each other fat ... with these unrealistic expectations for women. It’s disappointing that the media keeps it alive and fuels that fire.”
Rivers didn’t take that jab quietly, taking to Twitter soon after to air her grievances.
“It’s funny how Jennifer Lawrence loved @E_FashionPolice during Awards Season when we were complimenting her every single week...” she wrote, adding, “But now that she has a movie to promote, suddenly we’re picking on all those poor, helpless actors.”
And then the near knockout punch came.
“WAIT! It just dawned on me why Jennifer Lawrence fell on her way up to the stage to get her Oscar,” she continued, referring to to Lawrence’s fumbled Oscar moment. “She tripped over her own arrogance.”
Yikes!
Since then, Lawrence, the Dior spokeswoman and role model for young woman all over the world, has also saidthat she hates dieting and even told Barbara Walters that “it should be illegal to call somebody fat on TV.” (This week, Lawrence edged out Miley Cyrus for the Associated Press’ Entertainer of the Year title.)

Now the 80-year-old Rivers, who has often praised Lawrence’s overall appearance, is striking back again.
“My New Year’s resolution is [ensuring] Jennifer Lawrence grows up and realizes how lucky she is and calms down,” sharp-tongued fashionista told Page Six.
Rivers has never denied her own penchant for plastic surgery and rarely pulls punches when it comes to what she thinks.
“I love that she’s telling everyone how wrong it is to worry about retouching and body image, and meanwhile, she has been touched up more than a choir boy at the Vatican,” she quipped. “Look at her posters. She doesn’t have a nose, she has two holes. She just has to learn, don’t talk if you’re doing it.”
Check. Mate.
The host still believes Lawrence is an “amazing actress” and called ther “the next Meryl Streep.”
With Lawrence poised to make a bevy of red carpet appearances for her role in “American Hustle” this award season -- and Rivers set to critique them -- it’s safe to say this feud is far from over.
