James Van Der Beek, wife Kimberly expecting baby No. 3
The Van Der Beeks are having another Van Der Baby! James Van Der Beek and his wife, Kimberly, are expecting baby No. 3!
Kimberly, a self-proclaimed “professional mom” announced the news in a post titled “We’re Expecting” on her blog Friday along with some pregnancy tips. (It’s her third go at it, after all.)
“James and I are happy to report that we are expecting our third child this winter!” she wrote. “Nesting mode is starting to kick in. I’ve been getting rid of clutter, reconfiguring rooms, reorganizing EVERYTHING, etc...My mind doesn’t stop.”
“I feel ridiculously blessed. I feel so much love, honestly,” the “Dawson’s Creek” alum told People.
The couple, who married in 2010, are already parents to two children, Olivia, nearly 3, and Joshua, 17 months.
“All the craziness, exhaustion, and moodiness aside, James and I are beyond elated and feeling so incredibly blessed,” Kimberly wrote. “Olivia and Joshua are in on the news and seem to be excited about a baby coming into the family. James, thank you for being the loving, caring, and understanding husband and father that you are,” she said.

Since they already have a boy and a girl, the couple has opted not to learn the sex of their third child.
“I never really had a preference with either one of the first two,” he told the mag. “We already have all the stuff for girls and boys, so there is no logistical reason for me to know, so we thought it would be fun to do it old school.”
But having a third kid will change their parenting strategy from “man to man” to “zone defense,” he said.
“I was told two was three times as hard as one, and that three is actually not as big of a leap,” he joked. “If anybody knows otherwise, I’m going to ask them not to tell me.”
When he isn’t busy making babies, the 36-year-old acts too. Van Der Beek vexed Cobie Smulders’ Robin Scherbatsky during a guest spot on “How I Met Your Mother” last season and scored a supporting role as a smarmy meta-version of himself in the now-canceled comedy “Don’t Trust the B---- in Apt. 23.” He’s set to play a recent divorcee who preaches the bachelor life in CBS’ fall comedy “Friends With Better Lives,” which costars Kevin Connolly and Brooklyn Decker.
