George Clooney reportedly engaged to Amal Alamuddin
George Clooney, a Hollywood hunk well-known for his attachment to bachelorhood, is engaged, according to reports out Saturday.
Not bad for someone who famously told Barbara Walters in 1995, “I won’t get married again because I wasn’t very good at it.”
The engagement story bubbled up after Clooney and his lawyer girlfriend Amal Alamuddin were spotted Thursday dining at Nobu in Malibu with friends Cindy Crawford and Randy Gerber. Not an unusual evening out, except for the fact that, according to People sources, Alamuddin was sporting a big rock on her left-hand ring finger.

When actor Edward Norton came by to say hello midmeal, the couple told him they were engaged, which earned them congratulatory kisses, a source told E! News.
Turns out, another People source said, they’d also been seen Wednesday at Craig’s restaurant in West Hollywood, apparently celebrating.
The couple “are trying to keep things very low-key but they also aren’t really trying to hide this, it doesn’t seem,” a third source “with knowledge of the situation” told the magazine.
The two were first romantically linked in October.
Guess things have changed since then, when the actor told People that rumors that he’d been spotted dating Alamuddin, Katie Holmes and Croatian model Monika Jakisic were absolutely false.
“Three different stories in three weeks. I should be an athlete. But, no of course, it’s all made up,” he said at the time, with his rep backing him up in a rare statement regarding Clooney’s personal life.
“[H]e wants Amal to be able to prosecute cases without being hassled because she had one dinner with George and four others,” rep Stan Rosenfield told People, after nixing the Holmes and Jakisic rumors as well.
In hindsight, it seems clear that one of those dating stories was more than a rumor.

Earlier this year, the actor, 52, and the Beirut-born barrister, 36, were photographed on vacations together in the Seychelles and Tanzania.
Alamuddin, a graduate of Oxford University and NYU School of Law, speaks three languages and specializes in international law, human rights, extradition and criminal law. Clients have included WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.
Before Alamuddin, Clooney was most recently known to be involved with former professional wrestler Stacy Keibler. The two, who’d graced many red carpets as a couple in their nearly two years together, split up last July. Keibler has since married tech executive Jared Pobre, with whom she’s expecting a child.
Clooney was married to actress Talia Balsam from 1989 to 1993. He told Vanity Fair in 1996 that he was responsible for the end of that marriage, noting that he “probably -- definitely -- wasn’t someone who should have been married at that point.”
