Emma Watson splits with rugby beau Matthew Janney
This is the end, indeed: Emma Watson and boyfriend Matthew Janney are no more.
The “Harry Potter” alum has split with the Oxford University rugby player, her rep confirmed to the Los Angeles Times.
The two called it quits about a month ago but remain friends, the Daily Mail reported. The 24-year-old’s busy work schedule is said to be the reason behind the couple’s “amicable” separation.
The “Noah” and “This Is the End” actress’ relationship with Janney, 22, went public in January when they were spotted smooching while vacationing in the Caribbean. And their romance came just as news broke of her split with former colleague Will Adamowicz, which went down in the summer of 2013.
Watson was recently named a United Nations Women goodwill ambassador -- Nicole Kidman is another -- and gave a moving speech on gender equality at the U.N. in September. She also covered Elle U.K.’s December feminism issue.
“Fame is not something I have always felt comfortable with; I have really grappled with it emotionally,” she said of her decision to become an activist. “And, in a funny way, doing this is my way of making sense of the fame, of using it. I have found a way to channel it toward something else, which makes it so much more manageable for me. And this is something I really believe in.”
Watson is in Buenos Aires shooting the political drama “Colonia Dignidad,” which also stars Daniel Bruhl and Julian Ovenden. She’ll next appear in Alejandro Amenábar’s thriller “Regression” alongside Ethan Hawke and is slated to star in the musical dramedy “La La Land” with Miles Teller.
