Chris Brown arrested on suspicion of felony assault in D.C.
Singer Chris Brown was behind bars this morning in a Washington, D.C., jail, in connection with an assault on a man early Sunday morning outside his hotel.
Chris Brown was still behind bars Monday morning in Washington, D.C., after being arrested early Sunday morning on suspicion of felony assault. He was due in court at noon Eastern time.
Breezy and his bodyguard Christopher Hollosy taken into custody after they were involved in a fight with another man outside the W Hotel just before 4:30 a.m. Sunday, the Washington Metropolitan Police Department told Pop & Hiss.
The alleged victim, who according to TMZ suffered a broken nose, was taken to an area hospital.
There are two stories about what happened, sources on both sides told the website. In one version, the man and a friend tried to photobomb a picture being taken of two women with the R&B singer. In the version from Brown’s side, the man was trying to get onto the tour bus after the two women attempted to do the same and were turned away.
Both versions ended with things getting physical, though who threw the first punch -- Brown or Hollosy -- may be a matter of some dispute, according to a couple of versions of police reports obtained by TMZ. Brown also reportedly hurled a homophobic slur before allegedly getting involved.
The singer was in D.C. on Saturday night to host a party at downtown nightclub the Park at Fourteenth, Pop & Hiss said.
Breezy’s sometime girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, tweeted Sunday, “I hate waking up to bad news,” following that up with, “what is wrong with some of y’all? Did y’all parents not love y’all enough? Y’all gotta quit w this negative ... 24 ... 7.”
Brown is still on probation from his felony assault conviction after beating then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009 and could face jail time if his probation in that case is violated.
