Chelsea Clinton is pregnant, expecting baby with Marc Mezvinsky

Chelsea Clinton is pregnant, which means her mom, Hillary Rodham Clinton, is going to be a grandma!

Of course, Chelsea’s husband, Marc Mezvinsky, is going to be a first-time dad and her father, Bill, the former president, will don the “grandpa” title, but it was mother and daughter who were onstage together Thursday in New York City when the former first daughter made her announcement.

“Marc and I are very excited that we have our first child arriving later this year,” the youngest Clinton said in at the Lower Eastside Girls Club, Politics Now reported.

“And I certainly feel all the better, whether it’s a girl or a boy, that she or he will grow up in a world full of so many strong, young female leaders,” the 34-year-old added. “So thank you for inspiring me and inspiring future generations, including the one that we’ll be lucky enough to welcome into our family later this year.”

Actress America Ferrera of “Ugly Betty” fame was moderating and the Clinton women were hosts at the Clinton Foundation’s “Girls: A No Ceilings Conversation” event.

“Marc and I are so thrilled to be expecting our first child in the fall! Thank you for all of the kind words!,” the mother-to-be said later on Twitter.

The former secretery of State also celebrated on social media, writing, “My most exciting title yet: Grandmother-To-Be! @billclinton and I are thrilled that Chelsea and Marc are expecting their first child!”

Meanwhile, the former president said he was “Excited to add a new line to my Twitter bio...grandfather-to-be!,” though on Thursday afternoon his bio had yet to reflect his new status. Hey, give him time, right? “@hillaryclinton and I are so happy for Chelsea and Marc!”

Mezvinsky, an investment banker, and Clinton got married in summer 2010 with an interfaith ceremony at Astor Farms in Rhineland, N.Y. A couple since 2005, they got engaged in November 2009.

“[W]e decided we were going to make 2014 the Year of the Baby,” she told Glamour magazine last year, discussing a life “to-do” list she’d made with her husband. “And please, call my mother and tell her that. She asks us about it every single day.”
