Carrie Underwood is donning Julie Andrews’ iconic habit in NBC’s upcoming live presentation of “The Sound of Music,” but the gig isn’t all raindrops on roses or whiskers on kittens.

“I get hate tweets and stuff like, ‘You’re not Julie Andrews!’” the country darling, 30, told Entertainment Weekly (via the Daily Mail). “I know I’m not Julie. Nobody is and I would never pretend that I was… I know my place.”

The 1965 film, which was an adaptation of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s play based on a memoir, starred Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer and went on to win five Academy Awards. It chronicles the life of an Austrian nun who leaves her convent to be nanny to seven children of a stern widower and subsequently brings music back into their home against the backdrop of the Nazi takeover.

So, how do you solve a problem like a hate tweet? You get the blessing of the big screen’s original Fraulein Maria.

“Fifty years later, it’s time somebody had another crack at it,” Andrews, 78, told Zap2It. “I had the best time of my life doing it and it did wonderful things for me.”

“I think it’s great that it’s being done again, but doing it live must be so daunting,” she added. “I do hope it works for Carrie, because she’s lovely and I’m a fan. I wish her well.”

The production, which is based on the play rather than the film, also stars “True Bloods’” Stephen Moyer as Maria’s boss and love interest, the strict Capt. Georg Von Trapp; Laura Benanti as the Captain’s fiancée, Elsa Schrader; multiple Tony Award-winner and “Private Practice” star Audra McDonald as Mother Abbess and “Smash” alum Christian Borle as family friend Max Detweiler.
