Cameron Diaz: ‘Not looking, not not looking’ to marry, ‘just living’
Cameron Diaz wants nothing to do with your expectations for her.
The leggy star of the upcoming film adaptation of the musical “Annie” shared her thoughts on other people’s thoughts on her personal life in the November issue of Marie Claire.
The 42-year-old actress, who poses in a sexy red dress on the cover of the mag, has recently been linked romantically to Good Charlotte’s Benji Madden, and just last week the pair sparked rumors that they might be getting, or are already, engaged.
“I’m not looking for a husband or marriage or not not looking for that stuff,” Diaz told the mag. “I’m living, not thinking what I should or shouldn’t be doing with my life.”
As for having kids, Dias has little interest in bending to societal pressure.
“We live in a society where everyone has kids, so they want other people to have kids. There is this culture that says celebrities are supposed to be just like us, so people think, ‘I have children, why doesn’t she?’” she explained. “But I’m not going to do something because it’s expected. If a family happens, then it happens. If children come to me, then I would do that, but I’m not someone who feels like she has to do something because it’s expected.”
Speaking of what people expect, the actress recently bared her backside in “Sex Tape,” rewarding longtime fans who had yet to see her goods in previous roles. And though she hasn’t done it yet, she said wouldn’t turn down a role just because it called for nudity.
“People have seen my butt. I’ve shown the top of my butt, the bottom of my butt. I’m not opposed to doing nudity, as long as it’s part of the story,” she said. “I’ll do whatever has to get done if it’s the right thing.”
Diaz echoed sentiments she shared in the August issue of Esquire.
“I like being 41. I love it. So much ... just falls away. Fear, mostly. It’s the best age,” she said at the time. “That’s when a woman knows how to work things, or she doesn’t care about that anymore. You just stop being afraid. You don’t worry about what men think. You just don’t worry that time registers anything awful.”
Rather, she might be more afraid of heights and singing in front of people, which she does as a hot mess version of Miss Hannigan in “Annie.”
The new Marie Claire hits newsstands on Oct. 21.
