Cameron Diaz steps out with Good Charlotte’s Benji Madden
There’s a new man in Cameron Diaz’s life -- “The Other Woman” star has stepped out with former Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden.
The pair have been spotted together for the last month or so and were photographed Tuesday holding hands (and coffee cups) as they ambled around New York’s West Village.
“The relationship sort of hit Cameron out of nowhere,” a source told People. “She’s always been open-minded when it comes to men. She just wants to have something in common with them and find a personality that loves life and loves as hard as she does.”
Nicole Richie, who is married to Madden’s brother Joel and is good friends with Diaz, did the matchmaking, Us Weekly reported.
“She’s at a point in her life where she would love to settle down, but for now with Benji it’s about being happy and taking things as they come,” the source told People. “She’s happy … really happy.”
“He’s a smart guy,” another insider told Us magazine. “She’s happy to have someone to do boyfriend/girlfriend stuff with now. They’re both diving straight in.”
“The Body Book” author, 41, and Madden, 35, have been mum on their relationship status, with Madden skirting around the topic when radio host Ryan Seacrest brought it up on his morning show late last month.
“Well, Ryan, there’s only one way to find out,” Madden said, laughing. “You’ve got to play Ryan’s Roses. … That’s still a radio phenomenon.”
Diaz, who will next appear with her “Bad Teacher” costar Jason Segel in the comedy “Sex Tape,” was previously linked to Yankees star Alex Rodriguez in 2011 after ending her long-running relationship with pop star Justin Timberlake.
Madden’s famous exes include heiress Paris Hilton and Hugh Hefner’s now-married ex, Holly Madison.
