Busy Philipps defends baby girl’s insect-inspired name
Busy Philipps is a mommy twice over and the actress has finally announced her new baby girl’s name.
Blimey!
No, that’s not it.... That was just our reaction.
It’s Cricket. Cricket Pearl Silverstein, E! News reports. (She takes the last name of screenwriter dad Marc Silverstein.)
The “Cougar Town” actress, 34, whose real name is Elizabeth Jean Philipps, potentially hinted at her affinity for an insect-like moniker with a tweet on Tuesday.

“Thank you all for the warm wishes for our new little ladybug! It’s been so sweet to read them all!!” she wrote.
Cricket, a.k.a. the ladybug, joins 4 1/2-year-old sister Birdie Leigh. She was born Tuesday and weighed in at 8 1/2 pounds.
The Ministry was secretly hoping that she would name the baby girl Bee, only for the fun puns to be had with phrases like Busy Bee and Birdie and the Bee. Alas, no such luck.

But it seems that not everyone is as excited about Philipps’ name selection as she is. The actress had to take to Twitter to defend her choice.
“It’s weird people think my kids will be in therapy because of their names. Guys, my kids will be therapy for LOTS of reasons, I’m sure,” she tweeted late Wednesday.
And for those remotely interested in other meanings behind the name/word cricket, here you go: It can also mean impartial, a small noisy toy, an English ball game, a rain-diverting roof and a small stool.
