Anne Hathaway, Adam Shulman are not on the verge of adopting a baby
All those folks who really, really want Anne Hathaway to be a mom are going to have to cool their jets: The actress and husband Adam Shulman are not adopting a baby.
The report was debunked Wednesday by Gossip Cop, which was told point-blank by the “Devil Wears Prada” star’s rep that the 32-year-old is not adopting anyone at present. Presumably not even “an American baby rather than one from overseas because she wants to help kids close to home,’’ as an unnamed source was quoted saying in Star’s original story.
Even so, outlets owned by the same company that owns Star continued to tout the report on Thursday and Friday, with other unaffiliated sites reporting on the reports.
Of course, those folks who really want Hathaway to be a mom would actually appear to include the “Les Miz” Oscar winner herself, if she hasn’t changed her mind recently.
“I’m the only one here who’s not a mother,” the then-newlywed told the Hollywood Reporter in late 2012 while participating in a panel discussion that included Naomi Watts, Helen Hunt, Amy Adams, Rachel Weisz, Marion Cotillard and Sally Field. “I hope to join the ranks soon.”
A month later, she told the Telegraph that she planned to have a family “of a certain size” and had wanted to be a mom since she was 16 years old.
“I’d like to have a few naturally and adopt,” she told the newspaper. “I gotta get on it, you know? I’d like to have as many as I can afford, not just financially but in terms of time, because you want to make sure each one feels special.”
