Amanda Bynes’ parents reportedly start conservatorship process

Amanda Bynes’ parents have begun the process of obtaining a temporary conservatorship over their daughter’s affairs, according to reports out Thursday.

Court papers were filed by Lynn and Rick Bynes on Thursday, TMZ said, and a hearing was set for Friday, according to E! News. A conservatorship, which TMZ said is difficult to obtain in California, would give them control over their daughter’s personal and financial decisions.

They had visited their child on Wednesday, L.A. Now reported. She’s reportedly at a facility in Ventura, where she was hospitalized for evaluation of her mental health after being detained under a 5150 psychiatric hold.

Though such a hold is valid for only 72 hours, authorities could have it extended by two weeks if Bynes is deemed to be a danger to herself or others.

The “She’s the Man” star was taken into custody Monday in Thousand Oaks after setting a gasoline fire in a stranger’s driveway, lighting her own pants on fire briefly, attempting to wash her Pomeranian in a nearby liquor store’s employees-only restroom and jumping into a cab to leave the scene.

It was the culmination of more than a year of erratic behavior, which hit the public sphere in April 2012 with Bynes’ arrest on suspicion of DUI in West Hollywood, which was followed by a couple of other driving-related arrests.

The unusual actions escalated last September when the actress moved to New York and upped her odd postings on Twitter, attacking other celebs as “ugly,” posting strange selfie pictures in wigs and various states of undress, threatening to sue any and all publications that wrote what she said were untrue stories about her, and claiming that someone else was posing as her and being photographed in New York.
