#TBT 2003? Singer Aaron Carter mopes over ex Hilary Duff
In this week’s edition of young Hollywood angst: Aaron Carter professes his love to ex-girlfriend Hilary Duff.
No, this isn’t 2003 but it sure is a throwback of sorts.
The former teen sensation and “Dancing With the Stars” alum took to his Twitter account late Wednesday to share some introspective tweets about his views on heartbreak. It all started with him retweeting a fan photo of the newly single “Lizzie McGuire” star that deemed her “flawless.”

“Don’t be that stupid douche that loses the love of your life forever.. Like me...” he tweeted. When a fan asked him if he was referring to Duff, he replied, “sure am.”
Carter and Duff, both 26, famously dated in the early 2000s before a cheating “love triangle” with Duff’s best friend, another former Disney darling named Lindsay Lohan, split them up, according to Entertainment Weekly. Though the fallout was pretty messed up, People magazine reported that there’s no bad blood between the two starlets.
Duff went on to marry hockey player Mike Comrie in August 2010, and they had a son named Luca in March 2012. However, the two announced their amicable separation in January.

So the timing of Carter’s pining tweet isn’t totally off then. And, as Perez Hilton noted, Carter let out a few cryptic messages following Duff’s breakup news.
And that brings us back to what he said Wednesday.
“I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to better myself to get back to her,” he continued. “I don’t care what ANY of you think.”
Shortly after those statements, the singer said the tweet gave him an “anxiety attack.” Ya think?
If this seems like the kind of celebrity stunt that goes hand in hand with the release of a new project, it pretty much is. The singer went on to plug his new music in numerous tweets following his big reveal, which makes us want to dismiss the heartfelt outcry that much more.

Carter has done his rounds with reality TV -- appearing on “Dancing,” the series “House of Carters” with brother and Backstreet Boy Nick Carter and, most recently, on Food Network’s “Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off” -- but has said that he’s been getting back to making music. (There’s nothing like a dishy tweet or two to get some bloggers to spill a bit of digital ink about him, right?)
“People who have no idea who I am and/or what I’ve been through. If you’re that interested watch my interviews or google me,” he tweeted. (And BAM! There’s that self-promotional plug, which was later accompanied by samples of his new work.)
“At least I’m real and don’t hide behind the persona of being a celebrity and an entertainer, &try to portray positive feelings all the time,” he added.
No, but he sure does have a proclivity for disrobed selfies.
As of press time, there was no statement on the matter from Duff.
